Cranmore Scarf Crochet Pattern

The Cranmore Scarf was designed because my mother hates how a scarf feels under her coat when it is tied. She is also not a fan of infinity scarves, she doesn’t like the feeling of them around her neck. So, I wanted to come up with something that would keep her neck warm without the feeling of it being wrapped, and that would sit flat under her coat without too much fussing.

I had already designed a couple of keyhole scarves, but they didn’t keep her warm enough, or sit well under her coat. Enter the double keyhole design.

You can purchase the full pattern in an easy printable PDF Here or Here.

The Yarn!

I used Red Heart Soft. It is a medium weight category 4 acrylic yarn. It is so soft and comes in a wide range of colors. Being an acrylic yarn, the scarf will be easy to care for. If you do not like acrylic yarns, that is of course ok, use your favorite medium weight fiber in your favorite color. After all the point is to wear the scarf, not keep it in the back of your closet.

This scarf uses about 250 yards, which if you use the recommended Red Heart Soft, it is a one skein pattern.

You will also need:

A size J hook and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. BONUS: There are two ends to weave in on this scarf, the one created during the beginning chain and the end when you fasten off.

Finished Size: 50.5” long x 5” wide

This scarf uses one of my favorite stitches, the Herringbone Double Crochet. This is an easy variation of the classic Double Crochet, and the construction of this scarf makes it a great beginner project. It is crocheted length wise, instead of width wise like most scarves, because I prefer working along the long edge. I feel like I see progress on the scarf faster that way.

The double keyhole design partnered with this unique stitch makes it stylish enough to be worn over a sweater or vest in the spring or fall when you are looking for a little warmth, in addition to keeping your neck warm in the winter under your coat.

That is one of the things I love about crochet, the endless looks you can create.
